OUR WORK
-
THE QUILT
We are gathering resources for a one-of-a-kind teaching quilt of 80 swatches from innovative makers across the globe. Each swatch holds a story of the inspired breadth of human ingenuity. Our quilt explores a fantastic wealth of fabric diversity and communities from heritage cotton growers, Japanese banana bashofu weavers and Mongolian yak herders to high-tech biofabricators and trailblazers artfully repurposing existing materials.
-
DOCUMENTING A GLOBAL COMMUNITIES OF MAKERS
Behind every material, there is a maker…someone and some community that are passionately dedicated to keeping traditions alive, envisioning the possibilities of new materials, and creating new approaches. We love meeting and getting to know the hands and faces behind the fabrics and will be sharing more about each of them here and in our upcoming podcast series.
-
COMMUNITY PROGRAMS AND EXHIBITIONS
As we journey across the globe, gathering materials, meeting makers, and exploring the potential of diverse fabrics, we are partnering with remarkable communities, museums, international organizations, and institutions. Together we are building spectacular exhibits and outreach programs, creating diverse networks and promoting the myriad benefits of applying deep ecological wisdom to the creation of today's textiles.
