FABRIC: KINTRA
Region: USA
Fabric Name:
Kintra
Origin:
Bio-based
Who made our fabric:
Kintra, Brooklyn, New York
What makes this so special:
Kintra uses corn and wheat-derived sugar to produce its resins and fibers, which undergo a melt-spinning process similar to polyester, nylon, and other synthetic materials and offer a comparable look, feel, and performance.
This fiber can drop into existing synthetic supply chains without investment in new equipment. They are exploring a suite of yarns from different non-food sourced feedstocks, including ag waste.
“Kintra materials perform like traditional technical yarns, but degrade like any natural fiber.”
